Central Jakarta Hydrant Maintenance Budget Proposed Again

Dozen of hydrants which are needed to help extinguishing fire in Central Jakarta were gone. While more than another 100 hydrants having lightly to severely damaged.

We have not yet summoned ATPM because in 2016 there were no budget

Based on Central Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept. data, there are 309 hydrants in total which spread in eight urban villages. Hydrants which still in the good state are 136 units in total, while 76 units are severely damaged, 72 units are lightly damaged, and 25 units are gone.

Head of Infrastructure and Facility Section Head of Central Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue, Siti Andarwati, said that hydrant's broken commonly located in clutch and gauge. Many Hydrants also can not spray the water.

According to Siti, several hydrants were covered by temporary building (rumah bedeng) and just found out after been demolished. Water consumption for hydrant and household still in one line too.

"These also become problems to extinguish fire in high scope," she said.

She informed that hydrant maintenance budget was proposed every year, but in 2016 this budget been removed. So, this year her side will propose it again. Now the progress is still in collecting the sole agent (ATPM) name data.

"It must be repaired to its hydrant maker. We have not yet summoned ATPM because in 2016 there were no budget," she closed.
